Moline solidified its position as a state power in the Illinois High School Association bass fishing by winning their second state title Saturday.
“It’s a pretty fun lake, if you can find the fish,” Maroon Bennett Glassner said. The Maroons, who won their first title in 2014, found fish and weighed the biggest bag of the tournament of 13 pounds, 1 ounce on Day 2 at Carlyle Lake to jump from fourth past Day 1 leader Christopher (second, 19-0).
Antioch jumped from seventh on Day 1 to take third and the final trophy with their second limit of five largemouth bass on Day 2 of 9-12 to total 16-9. It was the third straight top-10 finish for Antioch at state.
