S&P/ASX 200 surges past 7100 to its highest level in 14 months as iron ore hits record
Fortescue Metals, BHP Group and Rio Tinto have gained between 2.7% to 6% as iron ore futures in Singapore jumped more than 10% to hit a fresh record high of US$226 a tonne. Crown Resorts has received a takeover offer from rival The Star Entertainment Group.
S&P/ASX 200 (INDEXASX:XJO) jumped 1.2% to a session high of 7166.1 points by noon as the mining giants soared on record commodity prices.
