ARCADIA, Wis. (WKBT) – Two local schools got some new tools Friday.
The La Crosse Area Builders Association donated a track saw to Arcadia High School and a cordless grinder and cut off discs to Blair/Taylor High School.
It’s part of their ‘Tools for Schools’ initiative – making sure students in tech-ed and shop classes have up to date, safe equipment to use.
It can be hard for schools to fit new tools into their budget.
Getting modern tools like these are giving students the skills and experience needed for trade careers.
“A lot of the stuff they can take into the workforce, as far as going to tech school, learning a trade. A lot of the kids that are in the construction class will probably end up in a construction job, like for summer jobs or long-term employment,” said John Peterson, Acardia High School Technology & Engineering Instructor.
