Russellville High School students sorted eyeglasses with the Lions Club, bagged clothes with Salvation Army and raked leaves with Operation Leaf Relief on Thursday as part of their day of service.
The Lincoln Blue Tiger women’s basketball teams feels it had a strong base to build off of with their six returning players from last year’s roster. And the Blue Tigers went out and added three transfers and six freshmen to help complete the puzzle. Now all that’s left is to see how the pieces fit together. Lincoln will get its first opportunity to see how the pieces fit when it opens the season at 7 p.m. today against Arkansas-Monticello in the Central Region Challenge in Mongolia, Ark.

The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons came up just short against the Clayton Lady Greyhounds, forcing a fifth and deciding set for the last spot in the Class 3 state semifinals. Clayton should have had the momentum at that point. The Lady Greyhounds were one set from reaching their first Final Four. But when the Lady Falcons broke their huddle at the end of the three-minute break before they started the fifth set, they were the more upbeat team, as if they had won the fourth set. The enthusiasm was contagious, and it helped the Lady Falcons get back to the Final Four.
