Portsmouth is getting a $12.88 million slice of the $1.9 trillion American Relief Plan funds passed by Congress.
Dover and Rochester, both with much larger populations than Portsmouth, are getting significantly less. Dover is set to receive $7.5 million and Rochester $6.1 million.
The entire package of money coming to New Hampshire includes about $1.4 billion, announced this week by Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan and Reps. Chris Pappas and Annie Kuster. The resources are in addition to the $1.25 billion that the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES) Act provided New Hampshire to compensate for COVID-19 emergency response efforts.

ROCHESTER The City Council has decided to formally accept the resignation of Councilor Doug Lachance at its May 4 meeting.
Lachance, a current Ward 1 councilor and former mayor of Rochester, announced he would resign last week after facing allegations of sexual abuse, which are being investigated by police and the Strafford County attorney. He has not been charged with a crime and the investigation is ongoing.
Foster s Daily Democrat published detailed accounts of the allegations by two accusers, as well as Lachance s denial of the allegations. Lachance cited the Foster s story when informing city officials he was resigning.
Now the council is working on its next steps, which were discussed in its meeting Tuesday night.
ROCHESTER Mayor Caroline McCarley and other city officials didn’t return requests for information Tuesday about whether City Councilor Doug Lachance has resigned from his post.
Lachance, 56, is under investigation for allegedly grooming and sexually abusing teenage boys while he was mayor roughly 20 years ago. The Ward 1 councilor, who couldn t be reached for comment, has denied the allegations and hadn’t been charged with any crimes as of Tuesday.
Lachance had informed McCarley he would resign Monday, according to communications multiple city councilors said they received from McCarley over the weekend. Some said McCarley called them to inform them of the news, while Ward 2 Councilor Palana Belken said McCarley informed her in an email early Monday morning.
