Blackstone (NYSE: BX) announced today that it has hired Yifat Oron, who previously served as CEO of LeumiTech, as a Senior Managing Director and head of the firm’s new office in Tel Aviv, Israel. She will lead Blackstone’s growth and tech investments in Israel for Blackstone Growth (BXG), the firm’s growth equity business, and assist with other investing efforts across the firm. Ms. Oron brings more than twenty years of experience as a tech investor and executive in Israel, with leadership roles in venture capital, banking and consulting.

Blackstone, a New York City-based investment giant that manages $649 billion in assets, is setting up an office in Tel Aviv to tap into the nation’s growing tech firms.
The office will be run by Yifat Oron, the former CEO of LeumiTech, the tech banking arm of Bank Leumi Le-Israel. As senior managing director and head of Blackstone’s office, Oron will set up a team to vet companies for investment from the US firm’s recently raised, inaugural $4.5 billion growth equity fund Blackstone Growth (BXG).

US investment giant Blackstone is opening an Israel office, which will be managed by Yifat Oron, who is stepping down after seven years as CEO of LeumiTech, which specializes in banking for high-tech companies. She has been appointed a senior managing director of Blackstone.
To date Blackstone has worked in Israel through former Israeli Ambassador to the UN Dan Gillerman, who has been Blackstone s senior advisor in Israel since 2013. Gillerman is to become the chairman of Blackstone Israel and will continue to serve as senior advisor to Oron and her team in Blackstone Israel s new opened Tel Aviv office. Before Leumitech, Oron served as a partner in the Vertex Israel venture capital fund.
