Introducing DeeOhGee, your new favourite providers of Nashville psych and herb grinders

If you’re looking at the photo and thinking that you recognise the members of DeeOhGee, you might well be correct. Formerly known as Blackfoot Gypsies, the band have reconfigured, and the Nashville trio – Matthew Paige on vocals/guitar/banjo, Zack Murphy on drums, and Dylan Whitlow on vocals/bass/keyboards and more – return with a moniker that tips a cap to a term in Waylon Jennings’s Waymore’s Blues. “We’d been looking for a name, thinking dogs are cool, then Dylan came up with it,” Paige says with a laugh. “It’s a little homage to that music and time that we’re heavily into.” The band have more than 10 years of playing together, and formed when a then-20-year-old Paige left Portland, Oregon to find kindred spirits in Tennessee. Too young to visit the bar scene, he advertised online for a drummer, and Murphy replied. &#x201C

5 Songs You Should Hear Right Now

DeeOhGee My weekly call to action for you to turn up the songs I can’t stop listening to this week. Turn them up, LOUD.   DeeOhGee- “New Way Of Life” Formerly known as The Blackfoot Gypsies, DeeOhGee were the first band I ever saw live when I first moved to Nashville nearly a decade ago. I’ll never forget randomly seeing them play at a small bar in town and the dude next to me, who was ROCKING OUT, looked at me and said “These guys have IT” After seeing them live that night, and many more times for years after, I have to say that gentleman who was rocking out was 100% correct. The band was the last band I had on my radio show before 2020 shut everything down and they were pulled off the road. Their latest single “New Way Of Life”  is a true testament to a band finding themselves in just that. After all the years of touring and writing amazing records, DeeOhGee are embracing the new life they find themselves in and I’m thankful we get to go along for the ride.
