THE LIBRARY service is being used to help deliver this year s Census, providing a space for advisors to help the public. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) – which runs Census 2021 – is working with the council’s library service to deliver a successful census to help local services to fully meet future needs. Advisors from the Census Support Centre, located in Blackburn Library, can help you to complete your census form over the phone during lockdown by guiding you through the form, or completing it for you. You can also book one of their PCs, or use the library WiFi, if you are able to complete the form independently.

AN AWARD winning author has posted a free storytelling for children on YouTube. Author Christina Gabbitas of the popular book Believe in the Magic of Blackburn has posted the video on YouTube for families to watch while the country is in a national lockdown. Last November, Christina staged a virtual author visit from Blackburn Library reaching over 4,000 children in schools and isolating at home. She said: “I was so pleased to be able to share the story with the children, it has been very difficult for all teachers and children since the Pandemic hit. It was wonderful to receive such lovely messages from teachers and parents and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with them.
