By Dedrick Asante-Muhammad and Chuck Collins | OtherWords.org | Special to the OBSERVER - Despite some progress, the racial economic divide between Black and white Americans still persists, with the pace of progress so slow that it would take centuries for Black Americans to reach parity with whites in terms of income, wealth, and homeownership; targeted commitments to individual asset-building and other forms of reparations as well as programs such as full employment, a government jobs program, universal health care, and a massive commitment to homeownership are needed to eliminate racial disparities within one generation.
