Black Dog Biogas, the owner and operator of an anaerobic digestion plant near Newport on the Isle of Wight, has completed commissioning of a private wire to supply renewable electricity to Vestas’ neighbouring wind blade manufacturing facility.
The project, led by Black Dog Biogas and its manager Earth Capital, will supply low-carbon electricity to Vestas’ 221.2k sq ft plant.
The facility employs over 600 people and produces 80m long blades for installation on offshore wind projects globally, particularly in the UK.
Vestas will use this renewable electricity to manufacture offshore wind turbine blades that will generate low carbon power in wind farms across the world for decades to come.
