Jul 19, 2021 Photo: Getty Images An evidentiary hearing is going on for the Black Central Texas man put on death row for the 1996 killing of a white woman. Rodney Reed s attorneys told a Bastrop County judge this morning prosecutors withheld evidence which would have exonerated Reed at trial. They ve also accused prosecutors of using false evidence.  Reed had long declared his innocence in Stacey Stites rape and murder saying the pair were in a consensual relationship and suggested her fiance at the time, Jimmy Fennell killed her. Fennell, a former Georgetown cop, was later sentenced to ten years in custody for sexual assault.
