UPDATE: NASA Wallops sounding rocket launch has been scrubbed and postponed for a second time, now set for
no earlier than 8:05 p.m., Tuesday, May 11. The launch was postponed Monday night due yet again to upper-level winds not being within the required limits for a safe launch.
After having to delay planned launches on Friday and Saturday night, NASA Wallops is now hoping the third try will be the charm for tonight s bit launch.
Scheduled to launch from NASA Wallops no earlier than 8:02 p.m. May 9, with a 40-minute window, the Black Brant XII rocket may be visible from the Atlantic coast to the Mississippi River as it thunders overhead.

Massachusetts residents eagerly waiting to watch a rocket launch the past few days may have to continue their wait.
The liftoff of a National Aeronautics and Space Administration rocket from a Virginia launching site Friday night was postponed three days in a row to Monday night due to weather issues. The mission aims to study Northern Lights-style atmospheric reactions.
“LAUNCH SCRUBBED,” NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility wrote in a tweet. “Tonight’s Black Brant XII sounding rocket carrying the KiNET-X payload has been postponed to no earlier than Monday, May 10, at 8:04 p.m. The launch has been postponed due to upper level winds not being within the required limits for a safe launch.”

A NASA suborbital sounding rocket that was scheduled to launch Tuesday night in Virginia, but was postponed until Wednesday, is expected to be visible throughout much of the eastern United States, possibly including Massachusetts.
LAUNCH SCRUBBED ❗ Tonight’s launch of the KiNET-X sounding rocket has been scrubbed due to cloudy skies in Bermuda and Wallops. The next launch opportunity will be no earlier than May 12, at 8:06 p.m. EDT. Backup days run through May 16.
The four-stage Black Brant XII rocket is slated to launch at 8:06 p.m. Wednesday. The anticipated liftoff from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility comes after several postponements, most recently on Tuesday night due to “cloudy skies in Bermuda and Wallops,” NASA said.
