A proposal to restrict access to a Falmouth beach is not going over well with town officials.
The Black Beach Harbor Head Civic Association proposed putting up a gate between the namesake beach and the Shining Sea Bikeway.
The residents behind the proposal say the growing popularity of the beach, has led to an increase in noise problems and other issues.
But those who oppose the gate told the commission it would make it impossible to get to the secluded beach, and that they should not be punished for the irresponsible behavior of others.
The commission took an initial vote to deny the proposal, but it could re-appear on the agenda if more information is presented about whether it abides by wetlands protection laws.
