i remember watching it on a small black and white television set. what does the legacy of apollo 11 mean to a guy like you? it brings back very pure emotional memories of that time for me. i knew it was an important event. to me it was something really special. i think it defined what i thought about the world, who i wanted to be when i grew up. i knew it was important to a lot of people. i also knew to me it seemed a little bit more. it meant a little more than it meant to others. i think it s the greatest achievement we ever had. i remember as a kid thinking this is the most important thing that happened in 500 years and it is the most important thing that will happen for the next 500 years. 500 years from now kids will be learning about what happened 50 years ago tomorrow. last night on this broadcast i talked about the courage of all of this, an aspect i don t think gets enough attention.
