West Bengal Elections 2024: During the second-phase polling in the Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency of North Bengal, tension rose as BJP candidate Sukanta Majumdar had a confrontation with Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers outside a polling station. Three more Bengal seats—Raigunj, Balurghat, and Darjeeling—are also being contested in Phase 2. Majumdar cast his vote early accompanied by his wife and urged people to participate in the democratic process enthusiastically.

Clashes erupted between the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in Purba Medinipur district on Tuesday, while slogans of “Bengal ke gaddaron ko, goli maaro….” (shoot the traitors of Bengal) were raised from a rally of the TMC in Kolkata.
