The release of the BJP s second list of candidates for the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls has led to the state Congress chief, Kamal Nath, claiming that the ruling party has accepted defeat. Nath called it the BJP s "last bet of false hope" and stated that the candidates list is evidence of the party s internal defeat. The BJP has so far declared candidates for 78 out of the total 230 seats in MP. The state elections are scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
In the 39 seats for which candidates named by the party in MP three months ahead of polls, it did reasonably well before 2018; in 21 shortlisted in Chhattisgarh, it has been performing poorly since 2008
Narendra Singh Tomar said a mega meeting of the state working committee had been organised in Gwalior on Sunday and it would be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It would be attended by office bearers of the party from across the state, Tomar said, adding that workers conferences have also been organised in 200 out of 230 Assembly constituencies as part of poll preparations.
