The duo boasts an indescribable intimacy, an inimitable collaboration between them that makes their onstage presence magnetic. During “Girls Are Mean,” they leaned into each other as they played, touching heads, mullets mixing, Shore’s curly and dark against Altendahl’s lighter one.

Claud’s debut album
Super Monster is a dreamy anthology of love and longing. Combing the hallmark smooth synth of bedroom pop with indie’s soft acoustics, Claud composes everything from slow, melodic ballads (“Rocks At Your Window”) to songs of upbeat redemption (“That’s Mr. Bitch To You”), creating a well-rounded and well-executed project.
As the first artist signed to Phoebe Bridgers’ Saddest Factory Records, 21-year-old Chicago native Claud Mintz has been releasing music since 2018, originally under the pseudonym Toast.
Super Monster is their first full length album, displaying a care and refinement that will come to define the artist as a leader in the bedroom pop genre.
âGOLDâ, the debut release for
Claud set a precedent that will be hard to follow, for both the label and their album; âSuper Monsterâ. The single sees Claud battling opposites and trying to maneuver a relationship with someone when theyâre âafraid itâs not working.â Their internalised monologue battles optimism with pragmatism as they face a relationshipâs inevitable incompatibility and the trials and tribulations that come with such experiences.
And whilst âSuper Monsterâ had a lot to live up to, it entered the battlefield with unwavering confidence as a complete concept; avoiding the risk of being a flippant debut and instead standing concrete thanks to Claudâs clear vision.
