pieces of information, are the c.i. elements of the investigation. i believe there was still a lot left out of the that report, including a lot about michael cohen and his travels and contacts and there are other pieces of the investigation that for some reason were not in the final report. so i don t know if through this additional now exposure of that investigation in congress, if they ll dig up more information on the c.i. side of things. certainly obstruction will a part of it now that that information is what comes from the grand jury is more directly related to that. but the important thing, i think, here is that, you know, the mueller investigation and the russia issue set the stage for what we are now very much focused on, which is the ukraine scandal. i don t think we would be as concerned as a country about the ukraine scandal, to be honest, if we hadn t gone through the russia scandal first. but because we have the russia scandal and then the ukraine scandal, it sets we
but because we have the russia scandal and then the ukraine scandal, it sets we see a pattern in the president s abuse of power in his attacks with foreign powers against our democracy. and so i think what s interesting about this is that, yes, congress is focused on the ukraine scandal now, but now we re going to circle back and now the russia scandal is going to become, i think, part of this impeachment inquiry. again, obviously it will be, but i think it s going to be become more part of the american sort of consideration the people s consideration of whether the president should be impeached again. it s just interesting how the russia scandal set the stage for the ukraine scandal, and now the ukraine scandal is in a way bringing the russia scandal back into consideration, back into the situation. i remember two years of the russia investigation and the big overarchds theme was don t ask a foreign government to interfere, to meddle, to attack our
they re coming right through our borders. we have organizations that are completely overwhelmed by that. let s focus on what the real concerns are and address that and pay for that instead of just like over and over. republican congressman doug lam born s district will be impacted as well. he says it is unfortunate that it has come to this but the primary job of the commander in chief is to guarantee our national sovereignty, unquote. what do you make of that argument? i mean, again, i don t have a problem with the conversation. it s just this idea that the president is redefining his relationship with congress and with the military in a way that just breaks with tradition of how any president of any party has done it. the congress allocates money. that s in the constitution, so the president s continual sort of ignoring of those division of powers to me is the more dangerous piece of this. it s not one specific base, one specific community, it s the precedent it sets. so i underst
boris johnson certainly the front runner. he didn t offer the same sort of support to kim darroch. he just said the relationship with the united states is the most important thing. across european capitals, a huge amount of concern about this story. and really the precedent it sets. should a head of state and a host country be allowed to effectively push an ambassador out? many people feel this is a worrying precedent to set. effectively president trump dismantling the current diplomatic system. one more question, abby, about the reaction in the white house. you said you assumed it would be welcome news. that s what everyone will say there because everyone has to have the president s back. but i happen to know that some of the members of, you know, the white house would go to kim darroch s private residence for these lovely lunches as i was invited once. and these are warm events and they enjoyed it and he had a
against principal. after rumors, tucked his tail between his legs and supported the president. and cory gardner up for reelection in a state where trump s approval rating is a nice negative 12 who decided his best move was to vote for the president. and fashions himself a conservative individual first and a conservative second. i think 24 national emergencies act is overly broad and i want to fix it, but nancy pelosi doesn t. therefore i m voting against her resolution. one senator who predicted the back lash was john cornyn. i think it s a dachgress step, one was because of the precedent it sets. and two, the president will get sued and it won t succeed in accomplishing his goal. and third because i think
