Here s a collection of Memorial Day events scheduled for tomorrow in Acadiana, by parish. If you don t see your event here, and you d like it to be included, just send the information to news@katctv.com
Acadia Parish
Since Friday, there has been a memorial display set up at the Church Point Depot. From sunrise to sunset every day, the 21 Church Point men who died serving their country are honored by VFW Post 9903 and American Legion Post 225 with a display. Every hour, a slow sentry will patrol the grounds. You can see the story we did on this event here. The closing ceremony will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, Memorial Day.
Bishop Deshotel to Lift Dispensation of Sunday Mass Obligation
Diocese of Lafayette

Bishop Douglas Deshotel has announced that he will lift the current dispensation of the Sunday Mass Obligation for lay Catholics in the Diocese of Lafayette, beginning next month, according to a spokesperson for the Lafayette Diocese.
âBecause of the seriousness of the pandemic, the Sunday obligation was dispensed by me to comply with safety directives recommended by health authorities. Now that conditions have improved, people more frequently shop, socialize, go to gyms and participate in other activities outside their homes, the time has come to also observe the Lordâs Day by assisting at Mass on Sundays. I am therefore lifting the dispensation from Sunday Obligation in the Diocese of Lafayette beginning on June 6, 2021, the Feast of Corpus Christi. All Catholics will be seriously obligated to assist at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation
