In 2018 when the Asene-Manso-Akroso District Assembly was carved out of the Birim Central Municipal Assembly by the President of the Republic, His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the siting of its district capital became a source of controversy.
The people of Akim Akroso including myself were not happy because the district capital had been given to Akim Manso which is small in size and population. After various petitions and protests, the issue died a natural death as many other issues do.
However, recent developments in and around the district have proven most people wrong because of the monumental infrastructure that the government through its representative, the DCE Alex Incoom has embarked on.
Birim Central Municipal Assembly holds last meeting of the year
The Birim Central Municipal Assembly has held its third ordinary assembly meeting at Akim Oda to climax its activities of the year.
Discussion considered at the meeting included; fire-related issues, decentralising the national sanitisation days to the electoral areas, encroachers of Oda cemetery land, re-constituting revenue management committee and re-activating its operations.
Madam Victoria Adu, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) commenting on fire issues said, though there were no rampant fire outbreaks in the area, the Ghana National Fire Service should intensify its sensitisation programmes while the Police Service also beef up security at market places to ensure fire-free during and after the yuletide.
