Thought about todays hearing as it relates to cdc, it is this. With the recent incidents, we recognize the pattern at cdc where we need to greatly improve the culture of safety and i am overseeing sweeping measures to improve that culture of safety. Cdc works 24 7 and our scientists protect americans from threats, including naturally occurring threats like ebola and mers and drug resistant bacteria such as anthrax. But we must do that work more safely and we will. Theres a recap of the recent incidents that summarized in our report which has been completed and were just at the outset of our investigation of the influenza contamination. Id be pleased to go through the two diagrams weve provided to the subcommittee which outlined what we know to date. But in brief, the anthrax incident shows deeply troubling problems. A lack of proper protocol, incorrect inactivation procedures. Failure to ensure that we were transferring materials that were sterile when we thought they were sterile. Use
That unless, quote, an agency has adopted a general policy thats so extreme as to amount to an abdomen occasion of its statutory responsibilities. Neither are regulatory delays implementing the employer mandate an affront to the constitution. I think we should take a look at the text of the take care clause. Particularly, the words faithfully and even more striking phrase, take care. Scholars concur that this phrasing is that exercise judgment and handle his enforcement duties with fidelity to all laws and the entire law that hes enforcing, the entire aca
Make the clock radio wakes you up and you hear the news being reported about the slim losses by republicans in iowa. You wanted to lay there and think to yourself, if i had only done a little bit more. If i had only put aside some of my personal pursuits for that 110 days, and put my state first, put my country first, just for 110 days, if id done that, maybe wed have had a different result. Governor branstad would have had a legislature who would have been moving fully in the direction of his bid for iowas future. Maybe we would have a Republican United States Senate and bigger majority in the house of representatives that would pressure the president of the United States to finally start leading and acting in this country, and not being a bystander in the oval office. [ applause ] but we didnt do it. We came up short. Well have that feeling of regret. And those pangs of guilt. Scenario number two. Its much better. You wake up on november 5th. The clock radio goes off. Youre hearing t
