Biman to run additional flights to Dubai Wednesday
Biman Bangladesh Airlines will run two additional flights on the Dhaka-Dubai route on May 12 before the UAE’s ban for travellers from Bangladesh comes into effect.
The national flag carrier made the move as the UAE’s restrictions for entry of travellers from Bangladesh will come into effect Wednesday, Biman Deputy General Manager (public relations) Tahera Khandaker said Monday, reports UNB.
“The UAE will bar entry for travellers from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka to guard against the spread of Covid-19 infections,” the country’s National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority said Monday.
Airlines get landing permission; 476 fly for KSA, Oman
Middle-East bound special flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines faced disruption in flight schedules on Saturday failing to get landing permission in Dammam and Riyadh.
But, flight operations became normal on Sunday after Saudi Arabia gave landing permission in the two destinations.
Some 476 expatriate workers flew for Saudi Arabia and Oman today. Of them, 271 left by Biman and 205 by Air Arabia.
A source said a Riyadh-bound special flight took off from Shahjalal International Airport at 10:30am while two more for Muscat and Dubai.
Over 1,500 passengers are scheduled to leave for different countries by nine more flights till 12 midnight, the source said.
