Maryhill thug Shaun Lyden made hammer threat to girlfriend s son

A MAN who threatened his girlfriend s son with a hammer narrowly avoided jail. Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Shaun Lyden, from Maryhill, flew into a rage when he heard that his partner s son had been rude to her. He phoned her while drunk to say he was going looking for the boy carrying a knife and a hammer. She called the cops who traced Lyden at the junction of Balmore Road and Bilsland Drive in Ruchill. They searched him and a black handled claw hammer was found in the front left interior pocket of his jacket. No knife was found. The prosecutor told the court: The witness had been in a relationship with the accused for the past six months.
