Hulon had been arrested earlier that day, April 10, for misdemeanor domestic violence. Less than 12 hours later, he was dead after four officers handcuffed him behind his back and pinned him to the ground while attempting to put a waist restraint on, according to a video of the incident released by his family s attorneys.
The Ingham County Medical Examiner s Office ruled Hulon s cause of death as positional asphyxia and his manner of death as a homicide.
The four officers involved with Hulon s death Sgt. Edgar Guerra, Detention Officer Gary Worden, Detention Officer Charles Wright and Officer Trevor Allman are back at work, despite the still-pending criminal investigation by the Michigan Attorney General s Office.
