Southern Miss failed to capitalize on multiple bases-loaded situations in the first nine innings and left 14, proving to haunt the Golden Eagles later in the game.
“Lousiana punched us in the mouth, and we didn’t punch back,” Coach Berry continued. “You gotta credit the guy [for Louisiana] on the mound as well. He was throwing something that was a swing-and-miss pitch.”
Christopher Sargent and Matthew Etzel each homered twice, and both drove in six runs, to lead No. 25 Southern Miss to a 19-0 Sun Belt Conference victory Saturday evening over ULM at Lou St. Amant Field.
