Singer-songwriter Pete Sander plays Boone s Saloon this Thursday evening. Photo by Rich Dalsin Welcome one and all to the end of April and the start of May in the year of 2021 as we take a look at the music happening in our fair city and the surrounding areas. From a year ago when venues were closed and live music was only heard online, we ve come a long way, baby. Thursdays are on a roll, my friends, which says it s all about live music being back in a big way. I spy a way-too-rare appearance by singer-songwriter Pete Sander at Boone s and the return of an open mic at Blue Grouch with Kortney Leatherwood and Sam Draper as your entertaining hosts, plus Brandon Santini and his Band at the Curve Inn, for starters to your live music happening week.
Gracia Harrison plays Crows Mill Pub this Saturday night. Greetings fellow travelers, as we re coming round the bend, heading out of the pandemic parking lot and back onto the highway of how it used to be. Please continue to be diligent in being careful and staying safe so that our adventure may continue, working through the muck and back to solid ground. As more and more live music gets added each week to our listings, good signs for the road ahead include a couple of new places having music, continued expansion of weeknight gigs and the spring fling precipitation from earlier in the week melting after leaving a few flowers blooming in the snow.
Rickey Meredith presents his 70s Solo Acoustic Show at the Slauterhouse Brewing Company in Auburn this Sunday afternoon. Hello folks, and come on into the first weekend of March 2021 as we continue to work toward reopening our world in a hopefully hope-filled post-pandemic place and time. Little by little, we are seeing the signs of a safe society beginning to bloom, and boy howdy, is this guy ready for that to happen. I played my first gig of the year last Friday at Harvest Market Farmhouse bar and restaurant to a nice crowd of family, friends and fans. I can t even begin to describe how good that felt, and it really made me realize just how much I missed playing out live. Thank goodness for the fun online streams (I ll continue to do those), but as we said all along, nothing beats the feel of live music seen, heard and experienced as it s meant to be and has always been done, in person, happening in real time. As we move forward
