The spirit of Golden Pond, its sweet summer nights by glowing fireside, deep woods and utter simplicity, are encapsulated in a mailman. His name is Charlie. He is positive, happy and sweet and has the greatest laugh in the world, but behind his glowing face and interminable laugh, he is hopelessly alone. So he delivers the mail, meets and greets passers-by along his route with cheer, accomplishing both with a gusto that is utterly unsuspecting. But still waters, as they say, run deep, On Golden Pond.
This classic and celebrated play, written by Ernest Thompson, opens this week at Theatre North West for what is the company’s final performance run of the 2001/2002 season.
