WASHINGTON D.C., DC U.S. Senator Susan Collins has been sworn in for a historic fifth term, the first Republican woman Senator elected to a fifth term in our nation s history. She s also the first popularly elected U.S. Senator from Maine to be elected to a fifth term.
On Sunday, January 3 at noon, Sen. Collins was escorted in the Senate Chamber by former Maine Senator and Secretary of Defense Bill Cohen. Collins was reelected on November 3, winning by a 51-42 margin in 14 of Maine s 16 counties.
JOHNSON CITY - Sarah Hathaway Darnell, Johnson City, 95, died Sunday, December 20, 2020 at her home.
Sarah was born in Hampton, TN to the late William A. Hathaway and Anna Jennings Hathaway. She was an optical technician at America Optical for 42 years. Sarah was a member of East Pine Grave Park United Methodist. She was the former president of United Methodist Womenâs Choir along with being a board member of Interfaith Hospitality Network. Sarah enjoyed traveling and touring the United States. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of Sarahâs fondest memories was going to a Vince Gill concert, which was on her bucket list, and he spoke directly with her in the audience.
