MONROE, CT Tony Scott, a Republican and member of the Monroe Town Council, won a special election Tuesday for the 112th District seat vacated earlier this year by JP Sredzinski, according to unofficial results provided by the Monroe Registrar of Voters office.
Scott defeated Democrat Nick Kapoor, a member of the Monroe Board of Education, for the post. The district encompasses Monroe and part of Newtown, and the unofficial tally had Scott receiving 2,248 votes to Kapoor s 1,948. A third independent candidate, Bill Furrier, of Newtown, received 31 votes.
