Chesapeake Bay receives grade of B- for 2020, report says

Some people might spend the Fourth of July on or along the Chesapeake Bay, but just how well is the bay doing? The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science released its Chesapeake Bay and Watershed report card for 2020 and its health score for the bay. The UMCES gives the Chesapeake Bay and Watershed report card a B- for 2020. The overall score remained unchanged from last year. Its Chesapeake Bay health score improved from a C- to a C. Dr. Bill Dennison is the vice president for science application for the organization. He said the grades are not great, but show the bay is headed in the right direction. We are doing some of the really forward-thinking things in the watershed. The watershed s grade is even better than the bay. One of the reasons we think the bay is getting better is we re improving conditions in the watershed. We re updating our sewage treatment, we ve got catalytic converters and smokestack scrubbers, Dennison said.Jake Riley from the Nation
