Bilkis Bano Case Verdict: The Supreme Court today overturned the Gujarat government's decision to release the 11 convicts who raped Bilkis Bano and killed her family during the 2002 Gujarat riots.
The Supreme Court on Monday reversed the Gujarat government's order dated 2022 and directed the convicts to surrender before the authorities within two weeks.
The apex court panel comprising of Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan on October 12, 2023 reserved its verdict after an 11-day hearing on the pleas, including the one filed by Bilkis Bano.
