Able to get folks downtown quickly on the t, then the need for parking wouldnt be there. We understand that the lots there are full. Like many San Francisco neighborhoods to get a parking spot in this area you need to drive around. I have that situation. I had a car until three years ago when i said it is a pain in the butt. Finding parking is hard. I was fortunate to be in a situation to get rid of the car. A lot of folks dont have that. We are also looking at a situation that goes what do we want to prioritize . Parking spots are homes for people. At the end of the day it does frankly suck that is a tradeoff we have to figure out because parking does take up space. When trying to figure out these crazy priorities in the city, there is a lot of give and take. We absolutely understand that the desire for more parking at the site, but when looking at everything and looking at the big picture, we would argue building more homes should take priority over those requests. But i have to say it doesnt strike me as fair to apply criteria that arent written to a project developer, and that if we want more out of the eastern plan, then we should be clear about that with additional guidelines. Should the flower market vendors and management exercise this option, the project variant would then contain about 2 million square feet of office, 91,000 square feet of retail, 23,000 square foot childcare facility and 950 square foot Community Facility and lower amounts of parking, loading but increased bicycle Parking Spaces and an increased approximately 38,000 square feet of Public Open Space. So how would they repurpose the ground floor that was once thought of as a flower market site . So with this design, what they would do is first they would widen the pedestrian to increase the amount of open space. Some of that ground floor would be converted to atgrade loading with the flower mart, much of the loading is in the underground garage, so instead they bring some of those uses up to street level, reduce the amount of excavation and belowgrade space.
