No justice for the enforced disappearance of Hill Women’s Federation leader Kalpana Chakma is in sight even after 25 years of her abduction as police investigations and a judicial inquiry commission probe have made produced inconclusive observations about her whereabouts.
The Rangamati Chief Judicial Magistrate Court even failed to hear an application filed by Kalpana’s brother Kalindi Kumar Chakma, also the complainant, for a further investigation rejecting the final report in the case in the past four years.
The hearing could not take place as the prosecution failed to submit evidences sought by the court the judicial inquiry commission’s video tape and clipping of reports published in two Bangla dailies in June 23–24, 1996.
