and he really gave that vivid image which he s really called upon bishops to instill in their seminaryies and priests. it s a beautiful image. it has sunk in with the people of god. the people of god want priests and bishops who have in a sense the smell of the flock. delia, this is a pope that s talked about change with the vatican structure, within the vatican bank all things seize problem inherited from years passed. how big a change has he made within the structure of the vatican itself? well look it s very tough to change the vatican bureaucracy that s been around for a millennia. but he has made inroads on that started by benedict xvi with the bank but certainly pope francis has been very adamant that there be further transparency that the board of directors there be
there s evidence of that. i think people feel better about being catholic. you have to be before he became pope every time you walked into the church everybody was talking about abuse, everybody was talking about the negative aspect. i was interviewing a priest yesterday and said two years ago this collar everybody thought i was a pedophile. today everybody comes up and talks to me about pope francis andy love my church. so i think he shows you by changing the emphasis, changing the language, changing the tone, how big a change that can make and i think it s also really interesting people like him much him much better than the institution. it also says a lot for people who are running for office they can distinguish you from washington if you have language that people identify with, who am i to j-let s take a look at that, let s include people, those are words and tone that people want to hear and that is
fascinating element of this case. i agree, because they will have to justify their actions and do it legally, and we re also hearing tonight, jane miller, that baltimore police will now be traveling in pairs. how big a change is this for the city, do you think, as far as police operations? i don t know much different about that. i ve actually seen them over the past week because of all the unrest like in threes in their police, you know i think, if you re talking about, you know patrol et cetera et cetera i mean they are kind of accustomed to traveling in pairs anyways. now, i don t know if that s related to the ongoing protest, et cetera, or if that s going to become a more permanent policy. everybody in the community hopes that at the end of the day this case leads to really substantial changes in policy. okay. investigative reporter for wbal jane miller with us tonight whose reporting has been nothing but spot on. thank you, jane appreciate it tonight. we ll have another upd
state. the kentucky primary is six weeks from tomorrow. in fact, mark may 20th on your calendar, probably the biggest primary of the year. and mcconnell has been beating the living daylights out of his primary opponent, matt bevin, banked $18 million for the effort. but the anyone but mitch sentiment hasn t been crushed. over the weekend, thousands of conservative activists cheered on bevin along with fellow challenger chris mcdaniel of mississippi who decided to come up to kentucky for this event and failed virginia gubernatorial candidate ken cuccinelli, all at this louisville event sponsored by freedom works. glenn beck announced in a rambling speech that mitch mcdonne mcconnell is as big a change to the country as barack obama. and then bevin challenged mcconnell to debate before the 20th primary. mcconnell has been benefitting from bev s own missteps and the latest for bevin, struggling to explain his appearance at a rally to legalize cockfighting,
