Pompano Beach, FL.December 23.Prairie Westerngal, a bridesmaid in her most recent pair of races at Pompano Park, reached the harness racing altar on Tuesday (December 22) by scoring a sharp win in the $11,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace for Wally Hennessey in 1:53.
The four year-old daughter of
Western Ideal, sprinted off the wings into a quick early lead before yielding to Crisp Mane (Ricky Macomber, Jr.) and remained in the garden spot most of the way before finding a seam along the pylons in the lane to score by a length over Crisp Mane after the latter sliced through panels of :27, :56 and 1:23.4 along the way.

Manhardt, who swept wide off live cover in winning last week s top event for mares, secured her repeat win by going first up in a brave move this time around, edging by the leading and stubborn Prairie Westerngal (Wally Hennessey) to score by three-parts-of-a-length. Crisp Mane (Ricky Macomber, Jr.) closed stoutly to finish third, just a nose back of Prairie Westerngal. Image of a Dream finished fourth while Tempus Seelster earned the minors in the classy field of six.
