i actually do think that some of the platforms don t have enough accountability to public officials. that said what we saw in 2016 is the incredible influence of facebook and the abuse of that platform by russian trolls and a russian intelligence operation meant to influence the election. in response facebook took steps to deal with that. particularly foreign influence. as he pointed out a moment ago, trump and his allies believe that facebook, twitter and the platforms are against them. what i worry about is this is very starting to have an impact on the stock. i m worried about leverage. similar question. it s interesting they say that. facebook and twitter. he uses twitter every day. haven t they been instrumental in the success of his campaign and administration? i uses it every day. to great effect.
the trump administration hasn t been aggressive in antitrust. the president has gone after amazon and the conservative right wing a sense tech companies are dominated by liberals. there s idea the tech companies are discounting followers or taking away trump followers or burying their messages much we have seen no evidence. it s a theory that dominates politics and congressional hearings and president trump. and there is a fear that this is the reason for the move. if that is true that s the wrong reason. wasn t the exact opposite in 2016? because other big tech giants facebook and other tech giants under fire for the in the past for violation of as well as tools in the 2016 influence and presidential election. have they been given too much freedom with no accountability?
questionable activity there by the trump administration and this could be used by trump to potentially go after people who are potentially critical of him. he s been critical of social media plat forps like facebook and twitter. and also obviously had a feud with amazon. and jeff bezos. so one concern i have is the trump administration is generally not aggressive on antitrust. this is a an exception to that. and it s really an area in which the companies are not engaging in the type of activity that traditionally conservatives will tackle in antitrust. i m interested in seeing where it goes. i m alarmed despite my concerns about potential activity by some of the companies about whether this will be misused by the trump administration. i wonder why. you said regardless of rational or political motive this was a good move for the wrong reasons.
it s a huge communication tool for him. facebook during the last campaign they offered to have people sit in both campaigns. clinton and trump to work with advertising and whatever. it s fairly neutral. the trump campaign took advantage of that and did well on facebook. you think there s a deep seeded belief among the right. shadow. their users and supporters are banned and followers are being cut down. there s no evidence of it. it s a strong belief. the president aired that view and many allies as well. all right, thank you. i appreciate it. cnn coverage of the former special counsel mueller testimony begins at 8:00 a.m. don t miss it. thanks for watching. our coverage continues. hy-a-lur-on-ic acid. revitalift derm intensives hyaluronic acid serum with our highest concentration of hyaluronic acid. visibly plumps skin
