Reporter Photos by Deb Gau With a total of 74 laps needed to reach her goal, Sue Morton added variety to her swim in the Marshall Area YMCA pool on Sunday. After completing a few laps with a backstroke, she grabbed a kick board. Morton has organized a “Big Swim” for the past few years, both as a celebration of her twin brother’s birthday and a way to raise funds for Y scholarships. MARSHALL Everything was ready as Sue Morton warmed up in a lane of the lap pool at the Marshall Area YMCA. She had her swim fins, upbeat music playing, a thermos to help her stay hydrated and an army of rubber ducks and bath toys lined up on the pool deck.
