bite in the air. let s talk about why it s going on. jet stream, nice and straight. that s when the weather is average, the way it should be. once in a while you get a big storm out there so it kind of looks like a roller coaster. now, we did have a big storm last week. it s a world, right, not just the u.s. the typhoon took the jet stream like a ribbon which brought it down by the line and what we ll looking at at the start of next week with the jet stream dipping down into the upper midwest and bringing colder air from canada, not the polar vortex, bringing temperatures a good 20 or 30 degrees. i see you shaking your head, michaela. highs, 20 degrees below normal, talking about highs in just the 50s, but the farther south you are, of course, you won t be feeling the effects as much. nobody wants that canada air. down in the southeast, scattered showers from the next couple of days. high pressure building in and that cold front doesn t make its way in through next week. i went like
you hear thunder and hear the burst of snow. these winter advisory will expire in an hour or so. watch out for icy roads and into the overnight hours. look how cold it is right now in tennessee and alabama. the temperatures drop down to below freezing and even colder in the mountains of north carolina where they had substantial snow about 16 degrees at this hour. it s icy and very, very treacherous. the totals are incredible. up to 18 inches, maybe 20 inches-plus on our legend, and that s for parts of new jersey into maryland. overnight tonight, and the warnings in the northeast in new england go straight through tomorrow. we ll talk about this nor easter tomorrow, too. that threatening to compete with the big storm last year when washington, d.c. and philadelphia experienced upwards of two feet of snow. winters are getting brulgttal earlier than usual.

the best thing i can tell you is this won t turn into another nor easter. okay, good. and the snow in the south we think for the most part will miss a lot of major metropolitan areas. you can see the radar picture. the big storm last week that brought power outages, hurricane-force wind gusts and more than two feet of snow, this came back at us. we have been dealing with rain in the coastal areas throughout the morning. the winds, which i don t see, unfortunately are strong. this is probably the worst thing we ll deal with all day long. portland, bar harbor, 20-plus miles per hour sustained winds. then gusts 30, 40 miles per hour. that means some more trees and branches are coming down causing more power outages and the guys can t get up in the buckets to fix things when winds are high. absolutely. that can be a problem. anything teetering on the brink, that could be the push it need, unfortunately, to come on over.
