Neil Young to release lost album after nearly 40 years

Neil Young is planning to release an album he shelved nearly 40 years ago.
“Island in the Sun” was recorded in May 1982 in Hawaii, but rejected by Young as his first album for Geffen Records. Instead, he released the synthesizer heavy “Trans.”
The lost album now renamed “Johnny’s Island,” “includes a majority of unreleased tracks, including ‘Big Pearl,’ ‘Island in the Sun’ and ‘Love Hotel,’ plus others you may have heard before. . It’s a beautiful record coming to you soon,” Young wrote on his website.
In a 1995 interview with Mojo, Young described “Island in the Sun” as “a tropical thing all about sailing, ancient civilizations, islands and water.”

Johnny s Island , which the rocker recorded in 1982, will soon be released and be available to fans. Writing Sunday on his Neil Young Archives website , the four-time Grammy winner revealed more about the long-lost project, saying that the album was recorded at Commercial Recorders in Honolulu, Hawaii with the same musicians who worked with him on his 1982 album Trans . Johnny s Island [is] a complete album now being prepared for release at NYA, Neil touted, saying the studio effort includes a majority of unreleased tracks including Big Pearl, Island in the Sun and Love Hotel.

Neil Young to Release the Album That ‘Trans’ Replaced

Island in the Sun was recorded in 1982 by the same creative team but rejected as his first LP for Geffen Records. He went on to deliver the controversial
Trans instead, which featured three tracks that started life on its shelved predecessor.
Young revealed on his website that the LP was now titled
