RSN BEHIND THE MIC: 20 QUESTIONS WITH DEANE LESTER
May 31, 2021 4:28 pm
Leading form analyst and RSN927s very own Deane Lester details his lifelong involvement in Racing in a must-read edition of RSN’s Behind The Mic: 20 Questions Series.
What first got you interested in Racing, and at what age?
I was pretty much born into racing my parents ran a stud farm, so I was surrounded by horses right from the beginning.
My earliest race-day memory was going to the
Cox Plate in 1972 when
Gunsynd won as a four-year-old. Roy Higgins rode him, and he was a family friend of ours.

Glasgow has had a gang problem for years, razor boys like the Tongs and the Fleet. There’s maybe a hundred or more with daft names like the Sighthill Mafia, the Young Shettleston Tigers, the Carmyle Tahiti. Back in the 80s the top gangster was Arthur Thompson. He might nail you to a floor. Drug rivalries made the city ripe for turf wars.

Heath Shaw will put the boots on for East Keilor in the Essendon District Football League in 2021.
Shaw was not offered a contract by GWS at the conclusion of the 2020 season bringing down the curtain on a superb 17-year career.
The 35-year-old explained the connection that led to him signing with East Keilor.
âIâd been approached by a few clubs but the reason why I signed with East Keilor was a mate of mine coaches there, âBig Patâ, Iâve known him for over 10 years,â Shaw told
SENâs Bob and Andy.
âFunny story, me and a few of my fellow âRat Packâ friends went to his sonâs 18th birthday party and everyone does their speeches and Pat was doing his speech and it was pretty average.
