i want to get back to one of our top story, the bipartisan weekend vote on capitol hill approving the massive spending bill and avoiding another government shutdown for the moment. candy crowley joins us from washington. we saw the sabotage and infighting this weekend. clearly a sign of things to come in 2015. it is but you know, most of the infighting was the most interesting. when you looked at the split in the democratic party between sort of the elizabeth warren wing progressives who objected to what they felt was a bank bailout in this spending bill, and you saw republicans objecting because they don t want to fund, among other things, they don t want to fund the president s amnesty program as they call it. most of the fireworks and a lot of the enmity was certainly intraparty and it tells you that not just next year, but 2016,

that s after a bipartisan group of lawmakers approved a controversial $1.1 trillion spending bill. that bill, of course, now headed to president obama s desk. erin mcpike is live in washington with the latest. erin? you said it. it was bipartisan. it passed 56-40. here s who voted against it, liberal democrats and conservative republicans. 21 democrats, 18 republicans, and one independent voted against it. now the reason they were able to get it done is they struck this deal with ted cruz, that junior republican senator from texas. very high profile. they allowed him to have a point of order vote, essentially just making the point that he wants to make, that president obama s executive order on immigration is unconstitutional. listen here to him make that point last night.
