At Martin’s in downtown Roanoke, owner Jason Martin said it’s just another Thursday.
“With having to close at 10, there’s no champagne toast, there’s no band ringing in the new year, there’s no Times Square on the TVs. All that goes away and all that revenue goes away with it, unfortunately,” Martin said.
It will be a new year, but unfortunately, not much of a fresh start and there won’t be much celebration.

On Monday, Big Lick Entertainment announced that February’s Big Lick Comic Con is canceled.
“Unfortunately due to the current restrictions on gatherings and current state of COVID 19 in Virginia we will not be able to host Big Lick Comic Con for Febryary 13-14 2021,” wrote the company in an Instagram post.
While February’s event is canceled, the company is still planning to have one August 7-8.
“I really do believe that our community, not just locally but nationwide is going to step up and bounce back. Things are going to be better than they’ve ever been,” said Big Lick Entertainment’s JD Sutphin.
