people are going to say whoa, no tax returns? no tax reform. we the customers, we your bosses need to know what s in yours, what s in it for you if we do a tax deal. so we re hearing this from schumer, yes. but also some republicans have kind of reluctantly gotten on this. and this could be the thing that ends up really biting take two out of big legislative achievement. i think it creates a vulnerability for him around what you re talking about, the specific question of a tax policy in his efforts on tax reform. and of course i think during the campaign it was mark sanford who wrote an op-ed and called for him to release his taxes there has always been a bipartisan group who thought this was a vulnerability for him. but i think just going back to the last point we were making, that eli was making, the reversals that go to the heart of his reason for being different are the gravest
there s structural factors why america and congress is polarize. leadership can only do so much. like a gerrymandering district where everyone voted for romney. if the president can find an area where the self-interest of the republican party is so overwhelming compromise is in their interest and you re seeing a little of that with immigration reform and there s even signs that some house republicans might bend on that. especially as they are focused on a new set of elections. that s where the 2006 election said we can t sustain our party. that s a big legislative achievement. we look at the affordable care act. where is the incentive to get behind it. eleanor made a good point. the president has to look at allies beyond house to. you have to look at the insurance companies, health care providers. health care is a huge part of
americans. if i can have all of you hold on for a second. we want to go to this signing. we were telling you about a little while ago. the president has come with michelle obama. her first big legislative achievement, the nutrition bill. let s listen for a second. too many kids don t have access to school meals. often the food that s being offered isn t as healthy or as nutritious as it should be. that s part of the reason why one in three children in america today are either overweight or obese, and we re seeing this problem in every part of the country, in kids from all different backgrounds and all walks of life. as a result, doctors are now starting to see conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and type ii diabetes in children. these are things they only used to see in adults. this bill s about reversing that trend and giving our kids the healthy futures that they deserve. and this bill s also about doing what happens right for our
