giving up on the idea of a deal. this is the spin from the white house, fox, this is about perception, we don t have to tell you that. here is dan pfeiffer communications director. it s impaerativimperative, but t ask the middle class and seniors to bear the cost of higher costs and budget cuts and ask for the wealthy and special interests to pay their fair share as well, and the measuring people agree. about hold on. the wealthiest to pay, 37% of our taxes? is that their fair share. mike: say that again. dave: that s 1% of americans. 1% of americans pays 37% of our income taxes. that s not to say that the republicans are right or democrats are right. what is their fair share, half. 1% pay half? and when you re paying that
believe down the road we won t is a space program anymore. dave: it will privatize. rick reichmuth what s going on outside. i ll miss the wakeup songs. dave: that was a long time. a nice little surprise going to that. and across parts of the plains, it s brutally hot and it s been hot since kind of mid may and now to mid july. all kinds of heat advisories in effect and today, the heat indices are shaping up like this and why they ve got the advisories in effect and 107 what it will feel like in tulsa and kansas city, norman, oklahoma outside of oklahoma city, 110. 106 in st. louis and anybody in this area at this point, you know the drill and what you have to do to kind of stay safe. and we have the rain showers across the southeast and nothing is too big of a deal. some of the storms in across the northern plains could be severe at times and out towards the four corners, we have the big dust storm this week and now we re getting the thunderstorms and especially in the afternoo
mike: noisy kids bother you at the restaurant. don t let them into the restaurant? i didn t say that. a man is banning little kids from his restaurants. can you do that? second hour of fox & friends morning continues right now. . dave: hello, fox, good sunday morning, good of you to join us, that noise coming from capitol hill on saturday night, a big wa, wa. and there was a lot of anticipation building. it looked like we were going to get this big grand debt deal done yet, taxes would have gone up slightly. medicare, medicaid, social security would have had cuts and we re talking 4 trillion dollars in cuts and now, it looks like it s off the table and john boehner late last night saying it looks like a smaller deal. yeah, talks from the president, and he says, hey,
it was so fluorescent and bright and i couldn t stand it. it hurt my eyes, i think i bought the wrong ones, right? i don t know. dave: i don t know a whole lot about it, but for one thing for americans, are they forced to buy them or choose which one is energy efficient and affordable and bet are deal for their family? joe barden of texas has a bill that will allow you to choose and not be forced to buy a particular light bulb. joe barden, a texas congressman had enough of this and he says it s about more than energy consumption, it s about personal freedom. ainsley: well, and governor rick perry of texas he signs an agreement saying if the bulbs are made and sold in texas then we are exempt from federal regulation and you can buy whatever you want in texas as long as they re made and sold in texas they can sell whatever see if the country does with the texans are doing. ainsley: they say uh-uh,
and the republicans don t want to give up tax rates for the rich and that is it. do they win in terms of perception with the smaller debt deal? well, the problem is when you go from 4 trillion to 2 trillion and you don t have a deal, nobody wins. so, we re at a point i think the american people are just frustrated. they re playing politics about it, dave, but ultimately this is one where there are going to be no winners until there s a deal and not sure anyone can win politically. doug is absolutely right. people want solutions and tired of the politics. boehner has to answer to the tea party congressional members and establishment. the and they have tea party members and don t want to compromise and raise the debt ceiling. they have the establishment they do want to compromise and that s how things work in washington. so, i believe that s why he made the call last night to the president because it is politics, anytime you bring people to the table, a deal can be done. so we ve g
