a foot more snow on top of what is already on the ground. two storms over the midwest and the southern plains expected to merge tomorrow night, creating another big east coast blizzard. this time all the way from washington up through and north of new york. the weekend storm dumped 2 feet of snow in some spots and 3 feet in others. not only shutting down the federal government but also cutting power to hundreds of thousands of customers. today, folks were digging out, mostly moving huge piles of snow from one spot to another. any progress expected to be at least partly undone starting tomorrow. we re talking about 6 to 12 inches. looking like it s leaning more to the 12. so we are preparing for that we are trying to keep all of our resources in place. the national guard resources, everything, in place so we can tackle the next storm. shepard: flights out of washington and baltimore picked up today as did rail service. but folks who have been waiting for days to get out of town only
