Curiosity is a cartsized robot county rover that has been exploring gale crater on mars since landing there august 2012. Nasa launched curiosity in november 2011 from cape canaveral. It took a little over eight months to reach mars. The rovers goal is to investigate the martian climate and geology and determine whether the crater has ever been ever had environmental conditions favorable to life. Crews made over night and the people who were told they had to leave their homes. Tara. People from about 180 homes have been evacuated and going to two different red cross shelters set up here. We know out of now this fire is 30 contained. Crews are still battling it. 50 people did not make it out of their homes. They are still sheltering in place. Cal fire says it is confident they are are safe because crews created fuel breaks around the homes. At least five buildings have burned to the ground. Officials dont know if they were homes, barns, or out buildings. I have lost a home to fire before. So this is dont want to go through it again. Reporter the fire began around noon yesterday and quickly scorched hundreds of acres of wooded hillsides. The dry bone conditions and extreme heat added fuel to the fire. More than 1,000 firefighters are working to get a wildfire in napa county under control. The butts fire broke out yesterday afternoon in butts canyon just west of lake berryessa. Governor jerry brown has secured a federal grant to help pay for the firefight. Right now, the fire has burned 3200 acres. Its only 30 contained. Already five structures have burned and 380 more are threatened, which means evacuations are in effect.
