Millions of dollars in federal funds will be poured into a project to improve a portion of Hampton's North Armistead Avenue, an area known to flood often.
The first of three projects kicked off Friday, aiming to transform Lake Hampton into a nature habitat with trails and recreation, according to a news release.

The three infrastructure projects the Lake Hampton stormwater park, North Armistead Avenue roadway elevation and Big Bethel Blueway cost a total of $34 million and are being paid for in part through environmental impact bonds.
