If the summer growing season was a movie, its usual top star the much-anticipated native tomato would be taking more of a cameo role this year.
Because of the lack of consistent warmth and sunshine, the 2021 tomato crop has so far been almost a no-show at local farm stands, the bins usually filled with the cheerfully plump red, yellow and orange fruits sparsely filled or empty.
If you were wondering if it was just you missing out on the bounty, perhaps by showing up at your favorite farm stand a little too late, be assured you are not alone . and all hope is not lost.
