Biden Picks IU Environmental Resilience Institute Director For EPA Position
The director of Indiana University’s Environmental Resilience Institute has been picked to serve under the Biden administration. Janet McCabe, also a professor at IUPUI s McKinney School of Law, has been nominated as deputy administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency.
She worked in the agency’s Office of Air and Radiation for more than seven years and helped develop the Clean Power Plan under the Obama administration.
The Clean Power Plan aimed to reduce pollution from power plants around the country, but the Supreme Court put the law on hold and it was never enforced. The Trump administration has since replaced it with the less stringent Affordable Clean Energy rule.
