SC Republicans criticize President Biden s speech, praise Sen. Tim Scott s response Kirk Brown, Greenville News © MATT BURKHARTT/Staff Sen. William Timmons speaks at a press conference, Tuesday, February 16, 2021, where Gov. Henry McMaster delivered a proclamation recognizing February 15-19, 2021, as South Carolina Life Sciences Week, underscoring the importance of the life sciences industry in South Carolina. South Carolina politicians reacted in predictable partisan fashion Wednesday night to President Joe Biden s speech to a joint session of Congress and U.S. Sen. Tim Scott s Republican response. President Biden promised to unify the American people and bring us together. Unfortunately, the last 100 days have been marked by partisanship and one-sided policy, said U.S. Rep. William Timmons in an emailed statement. Timmons represents a district that includes most of Greenville and Spartanburg counties.

Radical! Biden will spend $6 trillion to put all power in DC and in Dems

Radical! Biden will spend $6 trillion to put all power in DC and in Dems We stared into the abyss… Platitudinous and boring Joe started by calling the January 6th riot the worst thing to happen to us since the Civil War. He said it was an “existential crisis.” The riot amounted to foolish people running around with flags, no weapons, and furry hats. They are exploiting the riot and making it something it isn’t. He said ‘we the people are we the government.’ YIKES! Biden talked about creating jobs, jobs, jobs but Trump already did that. Now Biden’s going to create jobs by making taxpayers pay for jobs the Left wants.

It is clear from his speech tonight that both parties share some of the same goals, but we have very different ideas on how we get there, Timmons said. Perhaps President Bident will be more willing to engage with his Republican colleagues on meaningful solutions to these problems in his next 100 days than he was during his first 100.

Tim Scott (R-SC) delivered the Republican response to President Joe Biden’s joint address speech Wednesday night to provide their reactions, many of which were laced with disapproval and disdain, and, at times, included a racial slur. Scott’s speech served as a rebuttal to Biden as he observed that Biden spoke “in empty platitudes” and that the country instead needed the president to find “common ground” amid sharp partisan divides.
